Questions are welcome here.

Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions and that’s completely normal. Here are a few of the one’s I hear most often.

BEFORE WE MEET

What happens during the first session?

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about what brought you here, what's been going on, your background, and what you hope to get out of therapy. There's no pressure. We'll go at a pace that feels right for you.

What if I don’t know where to start?

That's ok! You don't have to. Many people come to therapy knowing something doesn't feel right, but aren't sure how to put it into words. We'll figure it out together.

Do I have to make art?

Not at all. Art therapy is always an invitation, never an expectation. Some client's create every session, some occasionally, and others prefer talk therapy.

I’m not artistic — can art therapy still help?

Absolutely! You don't need any artistic ability or experience. Art therapy isn't about making beautiful art. Art therapy is about expressing yourself and discovering new perspectives. Stick figures are always welcome!

THE PRACTICAL STUFF

Do you offer virtual therapy?

Yes! I currently only offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions in Ohio. Many clients enjoy meeting from the comfort of their home, while still building a meaningful therapeutic relationship.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance and operate as a private-pay practice. This allows me greater flexibility to tailor therapy to your needs rather than insurance requirements. If you're curious whether private pay is right for you, I am happy to answer any questions.

How do I know if we’re a good fit?

Will therapy “fix” me?

I don't believe you're broken. Therapy isn't about changing who you are. It's about understanding yourself more throughly and creating the life you want.
